Cost-of-living adjustment of tariff rates as at 1 January 2024

Common Tariffs C and L as well as Tariff B contain a cost-of-living adjustment clause.

Common Tariffs C and L as well as Tariff B contain a cost-of-living adjustment clause. This clause provides that tariff rates may be adjusted in line with changes in the national consumer price index. The tariffs set a base date and a reference date for calculating inflation. If consumer prices change by 5% or more in between the two dates, tariff rates must be adjusted accordingly. The relevant reference date for the review is 30 September. Tariff adjustments are then implemented effective 1 January of the following year. For Tariff PN, last year’s review led to a 5.5% increase in fees effective 1 January 2023.

This year’s inflation review as at 30 September 2023 shows changes in the following tariffs:

CT C       plus 6.3% since 1 January 2018
CT L        plus 6.3% since 1 January 2018
Tarif B   plus 5.8% since 1 January 2015

On the reference date, the change in the index therefore exceeds the 5% specified in the tariff.  For this reason, all three tariff rates will be adjusted in line with inflation as at 1 January 2024.  The rates applicable as of 2024 are listed in annex to the tariffs.  The updated documents are now available on the SUISA website.  Customers concerned have been informed directly in writing of the cost-of-living adjustment.
