Death of Thierry Mauley
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Thierry Mauley, Vice-President of SUISA from 1991 to 2007.
His commitment was felt across the SUISA Board. He will be remembered for his energy and his unmatched ability to connect with others. Thierry Mauley had a wide range of skills and a varied CV full of achievements and challenges. He began his career as a press secretary for the record label Barclay, before composing scores for both the big and small screens in Switzerland and around the world. “Maunoir” and “Maunoir” Images, studios that he founded in Eaux-Vives, Geneva, were some of French-speaking Switzerland’s leading producers of this type of music between 1979 and 2012. I will never forget the wonderful first time we met there in the early 2000s.
Thierry Mauley left his mark on SUISA thanks to his dedication, curiosity and open-mindedness. He had a keen interest in all genres of music, but was particularly knowledgeable about “Schlager” and French chanson, which he loved. He was an inspiring and timeless figure in Switzerland’s music landscape. Under his stage name, “Thierry Fervant”, he sang and composed several hits in the 1970s, as well as collaborating with stars such as Henri Dès, Sapho and the band Vulcain. I have vivid memories of his immense excitement towards his many successes, such as with the band “Jael” and singer Carol Rich. Every time, he shared in the delight felt by young musicians enjoying their first big hit. It was a joy to witness.
Those who knew him will remember a man who remained young at heart, despite suffering with a long-term illness over the last few years.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family, especially his wife, Angeles Astray Mauley.
